Brian Atkinson has worked as a professional photographer for the past 17 years. He has traveled to over 50 countries, but the nation that has captured his heart and imagination is Guatemala and the struggles of its Mayan people. Brian is a frequent contributor to Canadian Geographic, Equinox and The Globe and Mail. He has two books published: Fredericton (Nimbus, 2001) and Fantastic New Brunswick (Nimbus, 2003).
Nela Rio is an internationally-known Argentine-Canadian writer with several books published including Cuerpo amado/Beloved Body (Broken Jaw, 2002) and During Nights that Undress Other Nights/En las noches que desvisten otras noches (Broken Jaw 2003). Rio lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
Elizabeth Gamble Miller, Ph.D., professor emeritus, Southern Methodist University, Dallas TX, translates Spanish poetry, fiction, fable, and essay; is on the board of Translation Review, and is a corresponding member of the Academia Salvadoreña de la Lengua. Her publications include 15 bilingual editions of authors from Spain, Mexico, Central, and South America.
Jill Valéry is a writer and translator living in Fredericton, NB. She has written extensively on French Canadian literature, and translates from English and Spanish. Her publications include an essay in the Longman Anthology of World Literature by Women (New York: Longman), and essays in The Globe and Mail. Her translation of poems written by Fred Cogswell recently appeared in ellipse magazine.
Joe Blades is an artist living in Fredericton, NB. He is the author of four books of poetry including casemate poems (Waterloo ON: Widows & Orphans, 2004), the editor of nine books and chapbooks, and the publisher of Broken Jaw Press. His artwork has appeared in exhibitions, videos and print publications across Canada and beyond.
