Peppermint Night
Vanna Tessier

Winner of the Poets’ Corner Award 2002

“a terrific collection of poetry”
New Hope International Review (UK)

Vanna Tessier writes poetry that examines the contemporary world. She is aware of today’s environmental challenges and is always in search of a good story in verse. She says, “We must face the world we live in today and we can accept reality as is. Either we take responsibility for our actions, or find refuge within the realm of imagery and fantasy.”

“Her poems are steady and consistently reflect the moment-by-moment sensitivity of a martial artist-type poet.”
Lorne Dufour, Poets’ Corner Award judge

Vanna Tessier lives on the Prairies. She is a writer, editor and reviewer. Her work is often performed or broadcast on CBC Radio’s Alberta Anthology. She earned her B.Ed. and M.Ed. from the University of Ottawa. Tessier is the author of five previous poetry collections including Sundogs (1997), A Windburnt Girl (1997) and Moodseeds (1999); two books of fiction; and is editor of two poetry anthologies — all published by Snowapple Press of Edmonton. Two of her books were finalists for the Howard O’Hagan Award (1997) and the Milton Acorn Memorial People’s Poetry Award (1996). Peppermint Night is winner of the 2002 Poets’ Corner Award.
