BLISS is Raymond Fraser’s fifth collection of short stories, and it can only add to his reputation as one of the finest and most entertaining writers in the country. Ranging from the Miramichi region of New Brunswick to outlying locales like Montreal, Toronto and Camp Borden, the stories feature characters “that readers don’t just want to know, but feel they already do know—characters who are real and vibrant, enjoyable and maddening”—Stephen Patrick Clare, Atlantic Canada’s 100 Greatest Books.

What the critics have said of Raymond Fraser’s books of stories:

“They have the Fraser touch: gutsy realism, originality and humour. The effect is hilarious, moving and at times sad.”
—BETTY SHAPIRO, Montreal Gazette

“Fraser’s characters are so strong and so very accurate that the reader remembers them and will for some time.”
—BLAINE MARCHAND, The Canadian Review

“As with all Raymond Fraser’s books, almost impossible to put down.”
—BRIAN JEFFREY STREET, author, The Parachute Ward

“Perceptive, magnetic and laced with humour.”
—ANNE INGRAM, The Fredericton Daily Gleaner

“Raymond Fraser is a natural story teller. His talent with narrative is second to none in this country.”
—MICHAEL O. NOWLAN, The Fredericton Daily Gleaner

“A raw, at times almost abrasive, emotional honesty is a signature Fraser leaves in all his writing … For decades, those in the know have acknowledged the novelist, short story writer, poet, biographer, and journalist as one of New Brunswick’s top writers."
Atlantic Canada’s 100 Greatest Books

“Reading Fraser’s writing is like listening to the voice of an epoch. He explores the things that made the sixties and seventies so legendary.”
—MICAH O’DONNELL, The Aquinian

“A legendary writer of fiction and New Brunswick’s very own treasure.”
—LINDA HERSEY, Moncton Times Transcript
